Paris the Electronic Merchant Systems Ferrari 488 Challenge began her voyage to Singapore during Labor Day Weekend. On September 14-16, driver James Weiland and the crew from Boardwalk Ferrari will meet Paris at the Singapore Grand Prix’s Marina Bay Street Circuit for a Ferrari Challenge competition that will serve as a support race during Formula 1 weekend. With 23 corners weaving into and out of three long straight-a-ways, the street circuit in Singapore will require extreme skill and focus as Weiland and company compete on the same track as F1 stars Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel, Kimi Räikkönen and others.
“Singapore will be another great test for our team this season,” Weiland said. “With the Formula 1 going off during the weekend, it will make for a tremendous racing environment. The competition among the Ferrari Challenge drivers will be stiff as usual too. But our goal will be the same as it always is—focus on the task at hand and put forth our very best effort as a team. We’ve raced Marina Bay in the past so there’s some familiarity with the track. Hopefully we can capitalize on that when we get there.”
Similar to the F1 weekend in Montreal that coincided with the Ferrari Challenge earlier this season, the F1 race festivities surrounding the event in Singapore are sure to make the trip even more special. Additionally, it will also provide a great opportunity to raise awareness for the three charities who are featured throughout Paris’ design—PETA Cruelty Free, Coach Sam’s Inner Circle and Cornerstone of Hope. The more success that EMS achieves on the track, the more opportunity to shed light on each of those causes.
“We always like to get up onto the podium during weekends like this especially because it helps raise awareness for PETA Cruelty Free, Coach Sam’s Inner Circle Foundation and Cornerstone of Hope,” Weiland added. “With the large crowds in attendance, it’s a great way to help make an impression on fans and drivers for each of those missions. Hopefully we can put our best foot forward as a team and accomplish that goal.”

Championship racecar driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. once said, “Finishing races is important, but racing is more important.” During their trip to the Brno Circuit in the Czech Republic, EMS Race Team didn’t finish as high as they hoped in the standings following their sixth podium of the season in Montreal last month. But driver James Weiland and the crew from Boardwalk Ferrari did continue racing around the world to raise awareness for PETA Cruelty Free, Coach Sam’s Inner Circle Foundation and Cornerstone of Hope. While helping to spread the word for these important missions, EMS Race Team would make the Czech Republic the sixth country they’ve raced in this season with an upcoming visit to Singapore next on the schedule.
“Ah, where to start?” Weiland joked following Race 2 at Brno. “Damp, wet race on slicks. Race started single file. We dove for the lead from 2nd in the first corner. It’s a fast, right-hander and we were nearly even when too much throttle on exit induced a big spin. Rejoined in 8th. Ran some really good laps and passed some cars to move up to 5th. Spun after contact from there. Rejoined and finished 8th. Miserable result but big fun racing in slippery conditions on slick tires. ERIN should be very proud of herself.”
ERIN the ems+ Ferrari 488 Challenge qualified P2 for the second race in Brno after initially qualifying P5 for Race 1. Prior to the first race, however, two of the cars on the team accidentally had their data from Qualifying deleted prior to scrutineering and ERIN was one of the two. She was forced to start from the back as a result despite qualifying in the top 5. But ERIN would respond well to that adversity. After starting in the 16th position, she picked off a couple cars at the start and worked her way through the field to finish 8th in a race that was green the whole way.
“Even though we didn’t finish where we hoped it was a great experience for our team to compete in the Czech Republic,” Weiland added. “The people were very welcoming, and it was another tremendous opportunity to spread the word for PETA Cruelty Free, Coach Sam’s Inner Circle Foundation and Cornerstone of Hope while we were overseas. Hopefully we’ll have a little better luck next time out in Singapore and get each one of those missions up onto the podium when we race in September.”

EMS Race Team followed a first-place finish at Spa in Belgium with their sixth podium finish of the season at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal in June. Now, driver James Weiland and Erin the ems+ Ferrari 488 Challenge will travel to the Czech Republic to compete in the Ferrari Challenge at the Brno Circuit on July 20-22. As they did in both Montreal and Belgium, along with previous stops in Florida, Texas, Australia and New Zealand, EMS will continue to race around the world while raising awareness for PETA Cruelty Free, Coach Sam’s Inner Circle Foundation and Cornerstone of Hope.
The Brno Circuit, previously referred to as the Masaryk Circuit, is a motorsport track located near the city of Brno in the Czech Republic. The circuit dates as far back as 1930, when an open-air track was constructed which ran along the main roads on the outskirts of town. Racing on the old roads ended in 1986, when the current circuit was officially opened. The Brno Circuit has hosted the World Road Bike Championship (MotoGP) and the World Superbike Championship. It’s also hosted the A1 Grand Prix, FIA World Touring Car Championship and other prestigious events along with the Ferrari Challenge.
“We’re excited to be racing to raise awareness for PETA Cruelty Free, Coach Sam’s Inner Circle Foundation and Cornerstone of Hope in the Czech Republic,” Weiland said. “We’re also looking forward to competing at the Brno Circuit along with meeting the people there and experiencing the culture. Our team has been able to put some good races together over the last several months so hopefully we can keep that momentum going out on the track as well. But regardless of the outcome, as long as we put forth our best effort as a team we’ll be able to live with the results.”

Major League Baseball Hall of Famer Hank Aaron once said, “Consistency is what counts. You have to do things over and over again.” Throughout the 2018 Ferrari Challenge, driver James Weiland and the crew from Boardwalk Ferrari have made it count with consistency in their approach and execution over and over again. After earning a first-place finish at Spa in Belgium last time out, Weiland drove PARIS the ems+ Ferrari 488 Challenge to their sixth podium finish in a season that’s made stops in Florida, Texas, Australia, New Zealand, Belgium and now Montreal. They earned the third-place finish during a support race for the F1 Canadian Grand Prix at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve while raising awareness for PETA Cruelty Free, Coach Sam’s Inner Circle Foundation and Cornerstone of Hope.
“PARIS did it again,” Weiland said following the race in Montreal. “Our Boardwalk Ferrari 488 Challenge snagged third overall at the start of the race and that’s where we finished. Big thanks to Dave Cameron and R3 Motorsports’ entire team for an excellent car. Nothing finer than being on the podium in Montreal during F1 weekend with family and friends here.”
EMS Race Team qualified 4th out of 35 drivers for Race 1 and that’s where they finished the first of two races in Montreal. During Race 1, PARIS had a couple looks at 3rd, but couldn’t quite get it done. As a result of finishing fourth, that’s where EMS started in Race 2. But this time, Weiland executed a pass early and held on to the third overall position in the Trofeo Pirelli pro class while securing his sixth podium finish of the season.
“F1 weekend is a great opportunity for us to raise awareness for PETA Cruelty Free, Coach Sam’s Inner Circle Foundation and Cornerstone of Hope,” Weiland added. “With the thousands of race fans pouring in all weekend long, we really wanted to get each of those tremendous causes up onto the podium. Really proud of the team for working hard and working together to accomplish that goal.”

During the F1 race, Sebastian Vettel capped off the Ferrari Challenge celebration by capturing the Canadian Grand Prix victory 40 years after Gilles Villeneuve’s triumph for the Scuderia at the circuit which now bears his name. Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas finished second, with Red Bull’s Max Verstappen completing the podium.

EMS Race Team will arrive in Montreal, Quebec for the Ferrari Challenge on June 8-10 at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve riding the momentum of a first-place finish at Spa in Belgium. The Ferrari Challenge drivers will compete in a support race for the Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix, which will also be held in Montreal throughout weekend. Driver James Weiland and the Boardwalk Ferrari crew will be competing on the same track as F1 stars Sebastian Vettel, Kimi Räikkönen, Lewis Hamilton and others. This marquee-racing event is expected to draw a capacity crowd of 100,000 fans throughout the weekend who are sure to make it a festive atmosphere for racing.

Circuit Gilles Villeneuve first hosted the Canadian Grand Prix in 1978. Past winners include Michael Schumacher, Jackie Stewart, Lewis Hamilton, as well as the iconic Aryton Senna. Hamilton is the betting favorite to capture this year’s victory, followed by Vettel and Valtteri Bottas. EMS Race Team competed at the legendary track in Montreal for the first time during the 2013 Ferrari Challenge. This year, Weiland and ERIN the ems+ Ferrari 488 Challenge will be looking to build on their season total of five podium finishes thus far.
