EMS Race Team Takes Series Lead to Belgium for Ferrari Races at Spa

EMS Race Team Takes Series Lead to Belgium for Ferrari Races at Spa

EMS Race Team navigated through a wet track at the Nurburgring Circuit in Germany to claim back-to-back Ferrari Challenge victories last month. The two P1 finishes gave driver James Weiland and his team from Rossocorsa, R3 Motorsports and Ferrari of San Francisco their ninth podium and third victory of the year. The Germany results also moved Weiland and ERIN the Electronic Merchant Systems Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo into first place overall in the Drivers Championship Points standings. Now, Weiland and company will look to defend their top spot in Belgium during the Ferrari Races on September 11-12 at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps.

EMS Race Team opened the 2021 campaign with P1 and P2 finishes in Italy at Monza before adding double-podiums in Austria and the Czech Republic. They then earned a podium in Spain before the latest victories in Germany. Those racing results have helped EMS build an advantage over competitors Ernst Kirchmayr (Baron Motorsports) and Christian Kinch (Formula Racing) who have each won races this season and currently hold the second and third positions overall.

“You never win the next race based on how well you performed in the last one,” Weiland said. “So while we had a successful trip to Germany, our team knows that the focus needs to be on executing to the best of our ability at Spa this weekend.”

The Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps is a world-famous racing venue that hosts the Formula One Belgian Grand Prix, the Spa 24 Hours, World Endurance Championships, and many other high-profile racing events including the Ferrari Challenge. The historic track held its first-ever race in 1922 and was used for Grand Prix racing for the first time in 1925. EMS Race Team won at Spa in 2018 and earned a pair of podiums there last year. During this upcoming trip, Weiland and his team are dedicating the weekend to the charities they race to help raise awareness for.

“Spa is a tremendous venue for racing and we’re excited to help raise awareness for PETA Cruelty-Free, Coach Sam’s Scholars, and Cornerstone of Hope while we’re there,” Weiland added. “We always encourage everyone to check out their websites and learn more about what each group is doing to help our communities because it really is amazing work.”

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is the largest animal rights organization in the world, with more than three million members and supporters. Products proudly displaying the bunny logo are cruelty-free, meaning that they were produced without testing on animals. Coach Sam’s Scholars’ mission is to provide educational support to at-risk children through a combination of literacy, personal development, and health and fitness programs designed to develop the whole child. Cornerstone of Hope, meanwhile, is dedicated to providing support, education, and hope for the grieving. Each mission will be featured on EMS Race Team’s car throughout the weekend in Belgium.

EMS Race Team Earns a Pair of Victories at the Ferrari Races in Germany

EMS Race Team Earns a Pair of Victories at the Ferrari Races in Germany

EMS Race Team roared through wet conditions at the Nurburgring Circuit in Germany to capture back-to-back Ferrari Challenge victories this past weekend. The two P1 finishes give driver James Weiland and his team from Rossocorsa, R3 Motorsports and Ferrari of San Francisco their ninth podium and third victory of the year overall. The latest results also moved Weiland and ERIN the Electronic Merchant Systems Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo into first place in the Ferrari Challenge Europe Driver Standings.

After securing a P1 and P2 finish in Italy to open the 2021 campaign, EMS added double-podiums in Austria and the Czech Republic before podium No. 7 in Spain. The two wins in Germany—along with earning the Fastest Lap—helped Weiland total 129 points through Round 5. That was enough to wrestle the series lead back from Ernst Kirchmayr (Baron Motorsports), who had been up by two heading into the weekend. Following the Race 1 win on Saturday, Weiland discussed how he approaches the start of each race and the mentality that put his team in position to succeed at Nurburgring.

“They say all the time that you can lose the race at the start but you can’t win it,” Weiland said. “And that’s very true. I’m always looking to get a good start and take an opportunity if it’s there. But the first thing is to get through the start and then go racing. I just try to keep my line and look for an opportunity and I’m relatively calm about it.”

What made the weekend even more special is that the EMS Race Team Reserve Driver, Max Weiland, also earned a victory during his race at the GoPro Motorplex in North Carolina. Racing against top-level competition, Max put in a storming drive to move from 9th to 3rd in the PreFinal and 3rd to 1st in the Final to win the MicroSwift Feature Race in Charlotte.

“Wins are hard to come by in racing so we’re grateful to have been able to experience a weekend like we just had,” Weiland added. “We’re also excited to be able to dedicate the three victories our team just earned to our friends at PETA Cruelty Free, Coach Sam’s Scholars and Cornerstone of Hope who we are extremely grateful for as well.”

PETA Cruelty Free, Coach Sam’s Scholars and Cornerstone of Hope are the missions that EMS Race Team continues to help raise awareness for while criss-crossing Europe in the Ferrari Challenge. The Ferrari Races at Nürburgring in Germany are up next for EMS Race Team

The Ferrari Races at Nürburgring in Germany are up next for EMS Race Team

EMS Race Team is traveling to Germany this week to compete in Round 5 of the Ferrari Challenge Europe on August 27-29 at the Nürburgring Circuit. Driver James Weiland and his team from Rossocorsa, R3 Motorsports and Ferrari of San Francisco have earned seven podium finishes through eight races this year and will be looking for more during the trip. After securing a P1 and P2 finish in Italy to open the 2021 campaign, ERIN the Electronic Merchant Systems Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo added double-podiums in Austria and the Czech Republic before her latest top-3 finish in Spain. Weiland’s team has totaled 96 points along the way and currently trails Ernst Kirchmayr (Baron Motorsport) by only two for the overall lead in the 2021 Driver’s Championship.

“We’re excited to get back on the track this weekend,” Weiland said. “Our last race was already a couple of months ago now so we’re really looking forward to getting back in the car and competing at a great event like the Ferrari Racing Days in Germany.”

The Nürburgring is a 150,000-person capacity venue located in the town of Nürburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It features a Grand Prix race track built in 1984 that has played host to the Formula One Grand Prix, European Grand Prix, the German Grand Prix and the Ferrari Challenge among other notable racing events. Previously surrounding the Grand Prix course at the Nürburgring was a much longer “north loop” track that was built in 1927 around the village and medieval castle of Nürburg in the Eifel mountains. EMS Race Team last competed at the world-famous track in 2019 and earned a P1 finish.

“Our goal is to help raise awareness for PETA Cruelty Free, Coach Sam’s Scholars and Cornerstone of Hope while we’re in Germany with a strong performance,” Weiland added. “Last time we were there we were able to dedicate a victory to those great efforts and hopefully we can do the same thing this time.”

EMS Race Team Notches 7th Podium Finish of the Season in Spain

EMS Race Team Notches 7th Podium Finish of the Season in Spain

EMS Race Team traveled to Valencia, Spain to compete in Round 4 of the Ferrari Challenge Europe and did enough to stay within striking distance of the overall series lead. While the race results may not have been what the team had hoped for going in, ERIN the Electronic Merchant Systems Ferrari 488 Challenge EVO did collect a P4 and P3 to keep the team within two points of the driver’s championship. They also picked up their 7th podium finish in eight races along the way with a late-August event at the Nurinburgring in Germany up next.

After securing a P1 and P2 finish in Italy to open the 2021 campaign, EMS added double-podiums in Austria and the Czech Republic before securing podium No. 7 in Spain last weekend. Those results have earned driver James Weiland and his team from Rossocorsa, R3 Motorsports and Ferrari of San Francisco a total of 96 points overall in the series which ranks second behind Ernst Kirchmayr (Baron Motorsport) who currently has 98. Trailing Weiland in third is Christian Kinch (Formula Racing) who has totaled 76 points so far.

“Not our best weekend ever but nice to bring home some hardware,” Weiland said following the Ferrari Races in Spain on Sunday. “Thanks to Ferrari of San Francisco, R3 Motorsports, Rossocorsa, Dave Cameron, Ray Banda and Conrad Grunewald as we fought hard all weekend. We are now down a couple points in the championship but we have six races in front of us including two at our next event in Germany.”

That fight was evident throughout the weekend and highlighted by a late charge on Saturday that turned a P5 into a P4 with a photo-finish to close out Race 1.  While trailing Alex Fox coming around the last turn, ERIN kicked it into high gear down the final stretch to edge past Fox at the finish line and earn the Ferrari Races Move of the Day for her efforts.

ERIN Earns Ferrari Races Move of the Day:

During Race 2, ERIN continued to fight through adversity while being nimble enough to dance around a potential disaster. After qualifying P3, ERIN jumped out to a lead early in Race 2 but was forced to slam on her brakes to avoid a competitor’s car that came careening through the grass and back onto the track after being bumped off by another driver coming around Turn 1. ERIN was forced to let a number of cars by as a result to prevent what would have been a race-ending collision before coming back to close out the weekend on the podium.

Throughout the trip to the Spain, Weiland and his team continued to race to raise awareness for PETA Cruelty Free, Coach Sam’s Scholars and Cornerstone of Hope. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is the largest animal rights organization in the world, with more than three million members and supporters. Coach Sam’s Scholars’ mission is to provide educational support to at risk children through a combination of literacy, personal development and health and fitness programs designed to develop the whole child. Cornerstone of Hope, meanwhile, is dedicated to providing support, education, and hope for the grieving.

“We want to thank PETA, Coach Sam’s and Cornerstone for everything they continue to do for our communities,” Weiland added. “We always appreciate the opportunity to help raise awareness for them on the track and our team is looking forward to doing the same later this summer in Germany.”

EMS Race Team Travels to Spain for Round 4 of Ferrari Challenge Europe

EMS Race Team Travels to Spain for Round 4 of Ferrari Challenge Europe

EMS Race Team travels to Spain this week to compete in Round 4 of Ferrari Challenge Europe on June 19-20 at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia. Driver James Weiland and his team from Rossocorsa, R3 Motorsports and Ferrari of San Francisco have earned six podium finishes through six races this year and will be looking to build on their overall series lead in Spain. After securing a P1 and P2 finish in Italy to open the 2021 campaign, EMS has gone on to add double-podiums in Austria and the Czech Republic to total 77 points overall which leads the drivers standings by seven.

“We’re excited to go racing again this weekend,” Weiland said. “Our team is focused and we know we need to be especially sharp with the talented field of drivers that we’ll be competing against. This will also be our first time racing in Valencia so we’ll try to learn the course quickly and start laying down the best lap times we can from there.”

The Circuit Ricardo Tormo is also known as the Circuit de Valencia and it’s located in Valencia, Spain. The track was built in 1999 and can hold up to 120,000 fans while featuring a main straight of 876 meters. In addition to hosting several high-profile motorsports events throughout the year, the circuit is also often used as a test track by Formula One teams because of the mild temperatures in Valencia during the winter. EMS will be racing in Spain to help raise awareness for PETA Cruelty Free, Coach Sam’s Scholars and Cornerstone of Hope.

“We always enjoy having the chance to help raise awareness for PETA Cruelty Free, Coach Sam’s Scholars and Cornerstone of Hope in a place we’ve never raced before,” Weiland added. “So we have an extra incentive to help make a good first impression for each of those great causes while we’re in Valencia this weekend.”

EMS Race Team Earns Double Podium in Czech Republic to Lead Season Series

EMS Race Team Earns Double Podium in Czech Republic to Lead Season Series

During two hard-fought Ferrari Challenge races at the Brno Circuit in the Czech Republic, EMS Race Team earned their fifth and sixth podium finish of the 2021 season. After the team’s streak of 12-straight podiums came to an end at Watkins Glen in New York last month, driver James Weiland and his crew from Rossocorsa, R3 Motorsports and Ferrari of San Francisco started a new streak with a pair of second-place finishes at Brno. The effort was also enough to maintain the overall series lead in Ferrari Challenge Europe heading into Round 4.

ERIN the Electronic Merchant Systems Ferrari 488 Challenge EVO pushed hard for a first-place finish in each race at Brno, finishing just tenths of a second away from the win. The pair of second place finishes helped Weiland and company earn 77 points on the season heading into the Ferrari Races in Spain on June 19-20. Ernst Kirchmayr (Baron Motorsport) is the next closest competitor to Weiland, currently trailing by seven through three rounds.

EMS Race Team earned a P1 and P2 finish in Italy at Monza to open the 2021 campaign and then combined that with double-podiums in Austria and now Brno. Heading into Round 4 in Spain, the team will be focused once again on securing that top step of the podium in order to extend the series lead as much as possible.

“I better start pulling off some passes for the lead or the Reserve Driver will be taking over!” Weiland joked after the races at Brno. “But really just a great job overall by the team this weekend. Big thanks to Ferrari of San Francisco, R3 Motorsports, Rossocorsa, Conrad Grunewald, David Cameron and Ray Banda. Hopefully we can keep getting better and put together a couple of good results in Spain in a few weeks.”

“We were happy to help do what we could to spread the word a little bit on all of the great work that PETA, Coach Sam’s and Cornerstone have continued to do during our trip to the Czech Republic. We also always encourage people to check out their websites, learn more about what they are doing to help our communities, and find ways to support them however possible.”
